50 shots/43

Portraits are always interesting to shoot. I have my own particular way of approaching them and it involves spending a bit of time with the sitter before the shoot. This allows a relationship of some kind to begin and perhaps offers me some insight into the person. What I aim to capture in a portrait is just that. The person. Not just a picture. I encourage the sitter to find a way to be present so that we can see them in a way that is honest and without gimmick. This is a shot I took not so long ago which offered up an interesting dialogue in the pre shoot meet up. Kelly has an eye condition and has no pictures of herself without this condition ‘showing up’ and being obvious. Here is what we got.
